A client says your advice led to a financial loss. A missed detail delays a project. Errors and omissions (E&O) insurance may help eligible professionals respond to claims alleging negligence, mistakes or failures in their services.
The online form starts a quote request. A broker may contact you to review your operations; coverage is not activated by submitting it.

E&O may respond to covered claims alleging professional negligence, errors, omissions or failure to perform professional services. Actual coverage depends on the insured services and policy wording.

| Protection | Example | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Negligent advice | A client alleges that a recommendation caused a financial loss. | Confirm which professional services are declared and insured. |
| Errors in deliverables | A consultant misses an important specification in a report. | Review definitions of wrongful acts and professional services. |
| Omissions & missed details | A project document leaves out information that a client relied upon. | Check exclusions and the claims-made reporting requirements. |
| Failure to perform | A client alleges that a contracted service was not completed as agreed. | Contractual liability and guarantees may be restricted. |
| Defence expenses | A covered professional-negligence allegation requires legal representation. | Ask whether defence costs erode the policy limit. |
| Eligible settlements | A covered claim results in an approved settlement or damages. | Check consent-to-settle, deductibles and policy limits. |
E&O policies are often claims-made. Retroactive dates, timely notice, territorial limits, defence treatment and exclusions can materially affect a claim. Coverage is never automatic.
Review available E&O optionsUnderstand the limits
Professional liability is not a substitute for every business policy. Coverage restrictions differ by insurer, profession and wording.
Fraud, deliberate wrongdoing and circumstances known before inception may be excluded. Prior acts are subject to retroactive-date and disclosure rules.
Third-party bodily injury, physical property damage and cyber incidents may require E&O, commercial property or dedicated cyber protection.
Performance guarantees, contractual penalties, refunds, fee disputes and liabilities assumed solely by contract may be excluded or limited.
