Insurance Careers Month - Meet Suki Sidhu our Personal Lines Sales and Services Centres Leader
February is Insurance Careers Month and we’re celebrating one of our top experts at Western Coast Insurance Services. Suki Sidhu, Personal Lines Sales and Services Centres Leader, has been with our team for more than seven years and started her career with us as our Cloverdale location manager.
What are you most proud of working at Western Coast?
I am proud to be part of an organization that identifies your strengths, as well as the investment put forward to grow their people at all levels. I strongly believe that being a hands on and effective leader is one of the most important components of any job. The success of your team is driven based on the leadership you provide.
What do you enjoy most about the job?
My biggest passion is seeing individuals grow. I am always wanting to learn exactly what they want from their career and how I can assist them in their current role. Mark Dutton, our Senior Vice President of our National Insurance Operations (NIO) team, once told us to remember the “why” behind the process. I have always considered this and it is so satisfying to explain the “why” to my staff and help drive their success. Our talent requisitions are based on exactly that, ‘talent,’ and we’re focused on driving engagement and building upon their skillset. While I was managing the Langley branch, it was an exhilarating challenge of hiring and growing a team of insurance experts. It has been a proud moment of mine to see these individuals excel and become an even higher performing team. The passion, drive and hunger they displayed in delivering customer service is a moment I will forever be so proud of.
Could you tell me about how important it is for you to care for people during and outside of work?
I enjoy being there for anyone and everyone. I live to provide unconditional love, support and to just be an ear to listen. My children truly feel that I should have been a counsellor at times as it truly feels like a full-time job. Spending whatever time I can with my children and husband is what I look forward to the most.
